Long Island structures

Millions of dollars went into building the extravagant bath houses and boardwalk of Jones Beach State Park in the 1920’s, not to mention turning a barren sand bar into a habitat for flora and fauna. And for whom? The farmers of the island? The fisherman? If it was built for the residents of New York City, then why not build the roads to it first? Where did the money come from? Who designed it? Who were the construction companies? Where are the construction photos? Even the water tower is an architectural feat, unmatched in the area to date.
